North Myrtle Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Street Festival

St. Patrick's Day Parade - North Myrtle BeachThis Saturday, March 22nd 2008, North Myrtle Beach will hold the 20th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Street Festival on Main Street.

The parade, which starts at  9AM, is just the beginning of a fun packed day of street performers, two stages of live entertainment, great food and plenty of games for the little ones. A section of arts and crafts vendors will offer a variety of unique items.

Spirit Airlines Adds Direct Flights Between Orlando & Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach Airport It’s getting easier to get to Myrtle Beach. Spirit Airlines recently announced direct service between Myrtle Beach and Orlando. This effectively links the top two leading vacation destinations which will be great for Orlando area residents, who may be looking for a vacation of their own during their peak visitor times, like spring break and winter recess. While Orlando is typically packed during those times, Myrtle Beach has plenty to offer including peace and relaxation in an un-crowded atmosphere. Service begins on June 12th.

This comes on the heels of Southern Skyways announcing new direct service to Myrtle Beach from The Tri-Cities, TN., Bridgeport, and Charleston WV., Wilkes-Barre - Scranton, PA., Akron-Canton and Dayton, OH as well as Rockford, IL.

Myrtle Beach Golf Tips - Instructional Videos

I have been here in Myrtle Beach for about six months now and everyone is asking me if I play golf. More and more, I am yearning to learn and play. Coming from Long Island where most courses are located on private country clubs, I never made it further than the Pitch n’ Putt at Jones Beach, where the goal was to hit people rather than hit the green. 

So now that I live in Myrtle Beach year round and am just minutes from dozens of courses, I am determined to learn and play golf this year. Instead of learning as I go, I was looking for a place to take lessons and came across a great series of video golf tips worth sharing from Bobby McCrimmon, director of instruction at Direct Approach Golf School in Pawleys Island, S.C. There is a nice series of instructional videos ranging from the “proper grip” to the “putting stroke.”

2008 Can Am - Canadian American Days in Myrtle Beach

2008 Canadian American Days - Myrtle Beach

The 2008 Annual Canadian-American Days in Myrtle Beach are quickly approaching. This week long event will take place March 8th - March 16th, 2008 and will feature events across the entire Grand Strand. Signifying the end of winter and getting the spring season rolling, this year’s festival looks like the largest ever.

Here is just a small sampling of some of the scheduled events:

  • March 12th - The 14th Annual South Strand Wildlife and History Day, 10:00AM - 3:00PM - Free at Huntington State Park - Atalaya Castle. Events during this celebration include the Can-Am Little Olympics at 10:00 AM which will have beach games for children aged 3-12. There is also a 1:00pm kite festival with free kites for the first 300 participants age 15 or under.
  • March 13th - Conway Loves Canadians and Americans Day, 9:30 AM - 4 PM with events scheduled throughout the Conway area including glass blowing demonstrations, guided walking tours, theatrical production and 30 minute river tours for $5.
  • March 14th - 2008 Run to the Sun Car Show - All day and free of charge by the Pee Dee Street Rodders. Located at Hard Rock Theme Park.
  • March 15th - 10th Annual Can-Am Junior Golf Team Matches, 8:00 AM at Wachesaw Plantation.
  • March 15th - St Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival, Parade at 9:00 AM followed by an all day festival beginning at 11:00 AM on Main Street in North Myrtle Beach.
  • March 15th - 8 PM Fireworks at Broadway at the Beach.
  • March 16th - Hear the music of the Myrtle Beach Pipe Band, 4:00PM at Broadway at the Beach.
