Myrtle Beach Fishing Report for 1/22/08-1/28/08

Grand Strand

  • Spottail Bass: Slow. The last several days of cold weather seem to have put the spottail bass off the feed. Look to fish with grubs, minnows, and Mirrolures once the weather warms.
  • Trout: Slow. The cold front has slowed both fish and fishermen.
  • Bottom Fish: Good. Boats report nice catches of black sea bass, grouper, and snapper from the Parking Lot (25 miles offshore) on out.

Little River

The cold snap has kept fishermen off the water and slowed down fishing in the Little River area.

  • Striped Bass: Fair. The striper bite has slowed but anglers should continue to fish in the Intra Coastal Waterway using 4” artificial grubs in either green or white; try ones with a forked tail.
  • Spottail Bass: Fair. Try fishing with live minnows or artificials. Trout: Fair. The cold snapped has changed the trout pattern but try grubs such as Gulp or DOA shrimp and Mirrolures.
  • Bottom Fish: Good. Boats are doing well fishing for black sea bass, grouper and snapper. Use cut squid.
